The Importance Of Mutual Consent

Mutual Consent

“No man is good enough to govern another man without the other’s consent.” -Abraham Lincoln

Mutual Consent
Agreed

Being able to choose to buy something or freely participate in a transaction brings more value, more personal investment and a better outcome for both parties. When a government or market system strips that choice to willingly participate away from people, the losing party is always the individual.

We chose Voluntary exchange and mutual consent as the theme for this week, because to us freedom of choice is the biggest differentiating factor for the free market system  from other economic systems. Freedom of choice empowers people to make the world, better, healthier and happier on their own accord. “The People’s Choice” , or “Will Of The People” becomes very evident when we can choose what that is individually; it’s amazing how much common ground all people really have.  When institutions get involved you get nothing good. That’s why we wanted to make this the first topic we really do a deep dive into.

Freedom of choice is what individual liberty is all about. It is what gives us fulfilment as humans. We get to shape who we are, and how we will be remembered by the choices we make. Being able to express our opinions, and being able to change the world simply by choosing to take a stand for our beliefs is what is so great about living in a free country.  When a government begins to limit individual liberties, and begins to choose what is the correct way to think and what is not, freedoms slip away faster and faster for the benefit of the greater good. After people lose choices, or become hated for thinking a different way the division grows, and confidence in the system falls.

Think about how many choices are made for you in your country. Think about how you feel towards the system because of all the coercive choices we have. We will be doing a nice deep dive in our EP#2 on the podcast tomorrow, we look forward to it. Please email us with questions, and feedback, or leave a comment below.
