Persistence

Persistence

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On!’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” ― Calvin Coolidge

Caleb just wrote a nice piece about the process. The process doesn’t wait for us. The process doesn’t allow for us to be consumed by overthinking or laziness. We have to act now and continuously henceforth. This quote says it best: “We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons.” -Jim Rohn.

That’s the most beautiful part of human opportunity– all you have to do is do! It doesn’t matter what advantages you may be predisposed to. Sure, they might lend a helping hand in helping you to persist, but the key is persistence itself.

Faith Through Failure

Failure is the great equalizer. Failure separates the strong from the weak. Want to know what can make or break somebody? Watch them endure failure, coming up short; watch them not get the result they worked so hard for.  It shows who’s willing to keep going and who doesn’t have what it takes.

A great many learn the hard way. They rest in their cushion of skill that they can whip out whenever they need it. Others rely on their genius that often proves to help them to get ahead in life. Even more gather an education to apply and fall back on. All of these kinds of people , lacking persistence in their respective fields, will ultimately fail. Humility will come to those who rest in their pride.

True Substance

Persistence and determination are the true substance of any qualified individual. These two qualities bring real success, and not some half-assed prideful counterfeit that does the bare minimum. Not to say that talent, genius or education are useless… It’s persistence that brings these qualities to life.

You won’t truly know the impact you can make on others until you unleash your full potential consistently and persistently. Persistent fools often outdo the most talented geniuses. Just imagine what can happen when that talent, genius and education rises persistently to the occasion with an unmatched determination.
