Global Power Struggle: US On Shaky Ground

“I dread our own power and our own ambition; I dread our being too much dreaded… We may say that we shall not abuse this astonishing and hitherto unheard-of-power. But every other nation will think we shall abuse it. It is impossible but that, sooner or later, this state of things must produce a combination against us which may end in our ruin.” -Edmund Burke, describing his fears for the former British Empire

Tensions are growing more and more by the day. Domestic and abroad, the global superpower that is the USA is being questioned and challenged. Economic adversity, social disaffection, rumors of WWIII around every corner… A new story seems to pop out almost daily that unsettles the vested mindset of Americans.

Authority In Question

Over the past century the United States has risen to be revered as the chief officer of global defense and commerce. The United States created the global freedom of commerce every nation in the world enjoys today via the U.S Naval might. The reduced presence of the Navy, and increased boldness of adversaries around the globe have stemmed into the increased conflicts we are seeing today.

As The U.S has continued struggles with our economy at home, a continued decline in the quality of life, a downward trend in education, and a large majority of Americans disapproving of the government… Where do we go from here? It appears that we will have to hit rock bottom at some point; but the gap between the haves and have nots has only continued to grow. It is still possible to climb the socioeconomic ladder, it is becoming harder and harder. Americans are addicted to debt.  We are obsessed with social issues, and clearly focused on the wrong things.

Adversity Abounding:

Our adversaries are focused on our demise on the global stage. Though they have a variety of their own issues and downfalls- they seem to have their priorities straightened out in regards to pursuing a power grab. Or at the very least dismantling the prominence of the west.

China is attempting to broker peace deals in Israel, Ukraine, and in the latest Pakistan and Iran conflict. Africa and South America are brokering trade deals with China over the U.S. They’re building trust around all of this while we continue to allow them to walk all over us in trade. We have handed them the electric car supply chain on a golden platter while closing up our own supply chain in the name of climate change, and we have slept on them getting heavy into the advanced computer chip game…

Keeping social semantics out of the picture. This seems to be the strategy for any one of the enemies of the west: they stand in their culture and keep their eyes on the prize. That being said, there’s a set of problems in itself… How can they work together to overthrow the US’s economic stronghold when the only common ground they hold is a desire to do so?

To Conclude:

We have to change up somehow, someway. Our priorities need a realignment. College isn’t the golden ticket anymore, and we need to stop pushing it on the youth. Trades are the future. Social issues do not deserve any political space and we need to get back to protecting individual freedoms in this country, and dissolve the over inflated, overly bureaucratic government ecosystem that exists today. We need real leadership which will command strength on the global stage, and we need to become self-sufficient now more than ever. The ground may be shaky, but our core is strong.
